London in a flash...then onto Rome

Buonasera ~

Wow...1st day in Rome is complete and what a great day it was.  Perfect (no really, perfect) weather ~ about 75 degrees + a beautiful blue sky)...so fantastic!!  Before I get to those details...here's a little recap so far of our travels...

Plane travel was highly uneventful and quite easy (thank god for business class!!!).  Given my international travel frame of reference is traveling to Vietnam, a 6 hour flight to London felt like nothing!!  Slept for 80% of the trip, at least, and we arrived in London around 9a on Wednesday.  After a little clarification on whether or not we'd need to get our large luggage and transfer it to our evening Rome flight (we didn't have to...yeah!!), we skated through customs, stored our carry-on bags in the airport and jumped on the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station.

Many of you don't know that as a little kiddo, I loved the story of Paddington Bear.  So being in Paddington Station was pretty cool.

Look above my head for proof...Paddington Station!!
From here, we decided because we only had about 4-5 hours to spend time in London that we would hop on the Big Red Bus (double-decker style + headphones for info) and were looking forward to a 'quick' tour of London.  Well, when the bus finally arrived, it was full, although some upper-deck seats opened up at the 2nd stop.  We then started calling it the Big Slow Bus, because at several stops it stopped for quite a long time and then seemed to take the slowest route ever, deviating from the typical route quite often.  The driver also seemed to have some difficulty with breaking, as every time it was engaged, we were all whipping forward into our seats and then sliding back.  It became quite funny nonetheless.  As a result, we saw a lot of things (cool to this newbie London explorer) and exited the Big Slow Bus (which was still Red) at the Tower of London.

Leah's excited...but doesn't yet realize how slow the Big Red Bus is going to move!!
Smiling on the bus.
Look, kids...Big Ben!!
I thought this said 'Caffe Nerd' and thought...this is a place for me!!

It's London...have to photograph this guy.

Well, a quick recap, but my internet is about to run out!  There are some strange internet rules here in Italy now, so tomorrow I will do some more blogging.

Sleep well...time to rest!!
